Man Walked on the Moon Surface

That’s one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind“ was the sentence that millions of people all around the globe heard on 20 of July in 1969. One man said it while walking on the Moon surface, no less!

This is one of the biggest events that occurred not only in this year but in the whole century as well. The everlasting dream of humankind to go all the way to the dark side of the Moon and safely come back to Earth finally came true when Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin put their feet on the solid ground of our planet again after a long-lasting trip in space.

Armstrong, the commander of the Apollo 11 mission stepped first on the Moon’s surface at 20:17 UTC, and pilot Aldrin followed. Altogether, they spent more than 21 hours there, which is almost a whole day!

Before flying back to Earth, they collected more than 20 kilos of the lunar material to bring to their birth planet for scientists to examine it. If you would like to see it, they are placed at Nasa Johnson Space Center.

John Lennon Married Yoko Ono

One more interesting thing happened back in 1969 – John Lennon and Yoko Ono leveled up their relationship by getting married. The couple met in 1966 already, but Lennon was married to his first wife at the time.

However, that marriage was pretty much about to be over at that moment, and just a couple of years later, Lennon and his wife Cynthia divorced.

Well, the end always means a new beginning, so Lennon and Yoko Ono didn’t waste any time waiting to get together forever. On March 20 in 1969 they officially became husband and wife.

The ceremony was not spectacular at all – just a 10 minutes protocol. But, one thing is interesting – they got married in Gibraltar, far away from the UK, and yet so close, as it was a British colony back in time.
